BASIS OF The Award of Cuban Art

ART. 1 –Purpose

Fuego Enterprises and OnCuba call for the 1st Edition of the Cuban Art Award in order to assess and promote young Cuban art. The total amount of the prize is 19000 CUC / USD. The contest is raised to offer cash prizes to support the production of the submitted project, space for personal exhibitions of each of the winners, and promotion in print and digital publications of OnCuba and Art OnCuba.

ART. 2 -Conditions

The award is open to all Cuban artists under 40, residing or not in the country.

Each artist can participate with a project of personal exhibition, which may include pieces already made and must include new pieces, to be produced with the support of the award-acquisition in cash.

The jury will also consider the artist’s career, so a detailed dossier must be attached to the project.

ART. 3 -Jury

The selection will be made by a jury. Each member of the jury will select five projects to be discussed collectively. A secret ballot will then be made, by points. Prizes will be awarded according to the score for each project.

ART. 4 – Awards

The total amount of the prize is divided as follows:

First Prize – 9500 CUC / USD

It Includes:

–           Coordination for a personal exhibition of one month in one of the spaces of Genesis Art Galleries.

–           Acquisition of a piece which forms or not part of the project for the value of 3000 CUC / USD, which will become part of the Cancio’s Contemporary Cuban Art Collection (CCCAC).

–           Promotion in our print and digital publications, amounting 6500 CUC / USD, which may be used by the artist in the exhibition with the advice Art OnCuba team.

–           Two advertising pages in Art OnCuba Magazine (4000 CUC / USD)

–           Article in Art OnCuba Magazine

–           Advertising page in Oncuba magazine (1500 CUC / USD)

–           Promotional video of the artist and the project for distribution in digital platform (1000 CUC / USD)

–           Coverage on websites and social networks before, during and after the opening of the exhibition.

Second prize- 6000 CUC / USD

It Includes:

–           Coordination for a personal exhibition of one month in one of the spaces of Genesis Art Galleries.

–           Acquisition of a piece which forms or not part of the project for the value of 1500 CUC / USD, which will become part of the Cancio’s Contemporary Cuban Art Collection (CCCAC).

–           Promotion in our print and digital publications, amounting 4500 CUC / USD, which may be used by the artist in the exhibition with the advice of Art OnCuba team.

–           Two advertising pages in Art OnCuba Magazine (2000 CUC / USD)

–           Article in Art OnCuba Magazine

–           Advertising page in Oncuba magazine (1500 CUC / USD)

–           Promotional video of the artist and the project for distribution in digital platform (1000 CUC / USD)

–           Coverage on websites and social networks before, during and after the opening of the exhibition.

Third prize- 3500 CUC / USD

It includes:

–           Coordination for a personal exhibition of one month in one of the spaces of Genesis Art Galleries.

–           Acquisition of a piece which forms or not part of the project for the value of 500 CUC / USD, which will become part of the Cancio’s Contemporary Cuban Art Collection (CCCAC).

–           Promotion in our print and digital publications, amounting 3000 CUC / USD, which may be used by the artist in the exhibition with the advice of Art OnCuba team.

–           One advertising page in Art OnCuba Magazine (2000 CUC / USD)

–           Article in Oncuba magazine

–           Promotional video of the artist and the project for distribution in digital platform (1000 CUC / USD)

–           Coverage on websites and social networks before, during and after the opening of the exhibition.

ART. 5 –Registration
Registration is free of cost. It will be open between September 1 and December 20, 2015.

The applicant must send an e official application form to the following address: [email protected] The text must include name, resume, project title and brief description. Automatically your data will be included in the list of participants and we will be waiting for the delivery of the project.

In addition, the projects and all documentation must be delivered or mailed to the following address: Calle 1ra, esq. B, Inmobiliaria Palco, 9no piso. To: Liudmila Figueredo. Art OnCuba Award.

The project description, curriculum and other similar documents the participant wishes to attach must be submitted in two formats, digital and print. Images and dossiers can be delivered only in digital format.

Upon receipt and registration on the list of participants, a confirmation will be sent to you through email.
The list of documents to be attached appears below:

– Detailed curriculum and summary curriculum.

–           Dossier with works by the artist, updated at least until a month prior to the date of sending.

–           Exhibition project. Concept (up to 1000 words). Detailed description (up to 2000 words). Images of the works to exhibit or projects of parts to be produced. Basic list of production needs.

–           Copy of identity document.

ART. 6 –Selection
Each member of the jury will select five projects to be discussed collectively. In specific cases the artist can be called to a meeting to clear up questions about the nature of the project or its production.
A secret ballot will be made later, on points. Prizes will be awarded according to the score obtained by each project.

ART. 7 –Awarding of the Prize
The Art OnCuba Awards 2015 will be announced on March 2016, during the presentation of the tenth edition of Art OnCuba magazine.
Personal exhibition, coordinated with one of the most important commercial galleries consortia in the country, will take place in 2016.

ART. 8-Responsibilities
Fuego Enterprises and OnCuba, in collaboration with Genesis Art Galleries, assure the confidentiality of the submitted projects as well as maximum attention in the care and protection of the works exhibited later, but do not assume responsibility for any theft, fire or harms of other nature to works or persons that might arise along exhibitions.

ART. 9 -Consent

The decisions of the Awards Jury are final and unquestionable. The winning artists have the possibility of waiving the Prize. In this case it will be reassigned in the order of the classification determined by the jury.

The winning artists loan to Fuego Enterprises and OnCuba, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, display, publication, translation and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their works and texts involved in the selection. Fuego Enterprises and OnCuba, with full respect for the moral rights of the author, may exercise these rights for all institutional communication activities inherent to the call.

Participation in the contest implies knowledge and full acceptance of these rules.
